Village-based Centre
Guadalcanal Province
We aim to help our students to foster values for social,
economic and spiritual development within the community, and between communities
in the rural area, through an holistic training approach. The centre opened
in 1983. But we are temporarily closed, as a result of the ethnic tension
on Guadalcanal, since 2000 - some property was vandalised and is still in
need of repair.
We have use of a community building within our village, and our enterprises
include a bee-keeping operation - the honey is sold at the local market.
But we are not self-sufficient. We get materials and financial support from
organizations such as World Vision and the European Union. We have six staff
members, and the community contributes money to help pay their salaries.
We are an Associate Member of SIARTC.
