Garanga
Village Rural
Training Centre
Ysabel
Province
We accept Anglican school-leavers from the Province. Our aim is to shape
our young people into good Christian citizens, with the ability to earn
a livelihood and have a good standard of living. We hope to build a pool
of skilled young people, who will contribute to the future development of
the Province.
We have seven staff and can accommodate 120 students, both male and female.
Apart from our vocational programme, we conduct regular fundraising activities,
cultural and western music and dancing and choirs.
Our students plant rice and vegetable but, sadly, last year's crop was destroyed
by insects. But the sale of crafts at bazaars and local markets has provided
us with some income. All the classrooms and dormitories at Garanga are timber.
We use water from the river, as well as a rainwater tank. And we have a
generator for electricity.
We receive support from the Ysabel Provincial Government, who help with
transport, food, and administration. The Anglican Diocese of Ysabel provides
food supplies. Garanga is a Full Member of SIARTC.
