Taylor RTC
Guadalcanal Province

Taylor centre was named after it's founder, Ken Taylor, from New Zealand. The centre began operating in the 1980s.

Our mission is to teach skills for self-employment in the rural village. We manufacture furniture at the centre, which is sold to surrounding communities in the Province. We also have our own logs for timber, and we sell vegetables, clothing, and cakes.
At the centre we have 2 classrooms, 1 girls' dormitory, 1 for boys, a library, 2 (temporary) kitchens, 2 dining halls (temporary) and 3 staff houses. Other buildings include the chapel. There is good sanitation with 5 standpipes and 1 water tank and we have solar power. We are not self-sufficient, and our material and financial support is from the EU, the SSEC Church, and the SI government.

Taylor RTC has 6 staff members, and a student capacity of 30. We take in male and female students of all denominations who have completed Std 6 or Form 3, aiming to provide them with the necessary skills training for self-employment in rural areas.
