VTC accepts 10 male and 10 female students of all denominations, up to 20 students a year, as long as they have graduated successfully from an RTC and can demonstrate the necessary aptitude, practical knowledge and skills. There are four staff members of Vanga College - a Principal, Education teacher, Life skills up- grader, and English & mathematics teacher. Other instructors at St. Dominic's in mechanics, carpentry, building, and agriculture help to upgrade the trainee teachers in their areas.

It's a two year course. The first year is spent on campus, with teaching practice for the men at St. Dominic’s and for the women at St. Anne’s and Batuna RTCs. The second year is guided teaching practice at RTCs around the country.
Student teachers take responsibility for the management and implementation of all activities at the college, including site maintenance, food preparation, gardening, recreational activities, purchase of food, maintenance of buildings and equipment and helping to organise the programme. They also choose they own leaders on a revolving basis.
